About this role
The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent and suitably qualified and competent individual to provide technical support for animal production research through: assessment, evaluation, development and innovation of research and management methodologies; Maintaining animal and farm resources, and proper execution of research protocols involving production research on sheep and beef cattle.
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3 year National Diploma in Animal Production or equivalent qualification
- Compulsory registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) as a Certificated Natural Scientist in the appropriate field of practice; 3 years post qualification technical scientific experience; A valid driving licence.
- Working knowledge of the following : Wool sheep and beef cattle production systems, feedlot management and planted pastures
- Programme and project management
- Scientific methodologies and models
- Computer-aided scientific applications
- Technical report writing
- Data analysis
